The face behind the paint
Hi, I’m Nicole! The face behind the paint, art and all the events happening over here.
🌱 The (pre) inception of The Artful Event was way back in the late 90’s when I was a Preschool teacher.
Funny story! One morning we’d gathered all the classes in “The Big Room” for a very much anticipated visit from Mickey and Minnie.
The school’s director walked in and pulled the teachers aside to whisper “Minnie didn’t show up!!” 😳
She explained that they needed someone to jump in the costume and take her place.
👀 In unison, all eyes turned to me!
I mean, why not?? Wasn’t I the one who planned spontaneous parades and scavenger hunts and made costumes out of anything I could find to put on one woman shows singing songs I’d made up with the children’s names?? Duh!
⭐️ I willingly hopped into that Minnie costume and the seed was planted for my, then, business “Little Miss Party Planner.”
Six subsequent years of fun was had, memories made and lessons learned! It was a blast!
🧐 But a “grown up” decision to relocate to Westchester changed my trajectory and I retired the business.
Before leaving, I gave all my supplies (sans face paint and Sleeping Beauty dress!) to a friend, figuring that “phase” of my life was done.
It was only a matter of time, though, before I was volunteering to face paint kids in my new neighborhood every chance I got! 😁
I absolutely LOVED face painting!
So why was I not doing it??
I decided that the most important grown up decision I could make was to live this one life in a way that is most aligned with my passions!
When you do that you are of the highest service to yourself, and therefore, to the world!
🎉 So, after a couple of name changes 😆 The Artful Event was born!
It has been as fulfilling as it was before with the opportunity to light up little faces at birthday parties! AND the fulfillment has expanded as my business has!
💎 The ability to bring together dozens of talented artists who are all honoring their passions and we collectively brightening thousands of faces every year is…pure joy!
I am so grateful to all the families who have welcomed us in your homes and to your special occasions. As well as the schools, religious and non profit organizations, small businesses and large corporations that have entrusted us to see your visions and help you bring them to life!
